Top five UK financial services company Prudential has appointed a

new head of communications for its UK retail arm.

Claire Stanton, who joins from Visa International, will head the

eight-strong Prudential Retail communications team, reporting to

managing director Roger Flynn.

Stanton, who was previously Visa’s head of internal communications, will

oversee both internal and external communications in her new role.

She has replaced Prudential Retail’s previous head of communications,

Helen Crossfield, who left six months ago to lead Deutsche Bank’s

internal communications team.

’The role involves looking at all the different aspects of the

communications mix, including media relations and internal relations,

making sure employees are aware of what’s happening in the organisation

and that their needs are being met,’ said Stanton.

Prudential Retail is one of the group’s four UK divisions, operating

alongside Life and Pensions, General Insurance and Prudential

Annuities.

The retail sector, which is overseen by Prudential UK CEO John Elbourne,

now employs over 3,000 people and provides advice to six million

customers.

In the UK, the group currently makes around pounds 450 million a

year.

At Visa, Stanton was responsible for internal communications for the

company’s European division.

Visa is understood to be planning to appoint Stanton’s replacement from

within the company, and will make an announcement next week.

Visa’s vice-president of corporate affairs, Chris McLaughlin, said they

are also in the process of recruiting for the PR division now, with a

view to restructuring the whole division in the autumn.

Before joining Visa, Stanton worked at management consultancy PA

Consulting in its communication strategy team.
