Choi named new director for B-M public affairs

Burson-Marsteller has appointed Leon Choi, a former head of communications at Barnardo’s and head of PR at The Body Shop, as director of the agency’s public affairs practice.

Burson-Marsteller has appointed Leon Choi, a former head of

communications at Barnardo’s and head of PR at The Body Shop, as

director of the agency’s public affairs practice.



Choi, who joins after eight months as a freelance consultant, will also

take an active role in B-M’s corporate social responsibility unit,

launched this week. The unit is headed by Gavin Grant, the European

chairman of B-M’s public affairs practice, with whom Choi worked at The

Body Shop.



Other members of the seven-strong team include Richard Aylard, who leads

B-M’s environmental work and Nick South, a director in the corporate

practice.



A B-M survey of companies in France, Germany and the UK, showed

two-thirds of CEOs saw corporate responsibility as important in their

assessment of companies. Two-thirds also said that it would affect their

own decisions, although less than half thought it would affect share

price.
