Jungle.com, the on-line computer hardware, software and
entertainment retailer, has closed its London press office with the loss
of two PROs.
Jungle marketing director Andy Singleton blamed logistics for the
’It’s very difficult running a PR department in London when your office
is in Birmingham,’ he said. ’We struggled to get information from here
to there - we weren’t communicating properly. I hold my hand up, it is
no reflection on the people involved.’
Responsibility for the account now rests with the Knowle office of the
company’s agency McCann-Weber, which is eight miles away from Jungle’s
Coleshill HQ. Jacqui Power, group account director, consumer, leads a
four-strong team there and reports to Singleton.
The brief is mainly media relations. ’We are building the consumer
understanding of Jungle’s products and services,’ said Power.
Jungle retains one in-house PRO based in Coleshill. The London PROs were
offered a relocation package but declined, Singleton said.
Chris Cox, who led Cohn and Wolfe’s launch promotion for Jungle, said
that the London press office barely got off the ground: ’It was
something they tried to do but it never really established itself.’
