Nintendo of Europe has hired the London office of Golin/Harris
International on a six-figure account to build its corporate brand and
handle PR across Europe.
It is the first time Nintendo has appointed an agency to co-ordinate PR
on a pan-European basis. The agency was appointed after a competitive
pitch involving several international agencies.
The account will be lead by account director Uta Bhut, who will
initially head a team of three, although Golin/Harris CEO Julia Thorn
confirmed that this was expected to grow. ’This is a significant
account, and a terrific brand. We will be leading the PR strategies to
be adapted by agencies in local markets,’ said Thorn.
Golin/Harris London will also provide Nintendo with a centralised press
office, issues management counsel and corporate media relations, said
Thorn. She and Bhut will also liaise with the Golin/Harris Los Angeles
office, which handles PR for sister company, Nintendo of America.
The Nintendo Company of Japan is acknowledged as a world leader in the
creation of interactive entertainment.
