LONDON: Technology PR agency Lewis is investing pounds 1million in

setting up eight international offices to facilitate cross border

accounts.

The money will be spent in the coming year to fund recruitment, office

setup costs and infrastructure.

Three offices are planned for Europe - in Maastrict, Milan and

Stockholm.

A further five wll be created in the US - in Austin, Boston, Chicago,

Raleigh and San Jose.

’We have reported record growth figures for revenue and profitability in

the last financial year, largely due to being able to take account

opportunities across borders,’ said operations director Ilona Hitel. ’We

traditionally use partner agencies, but as the industry get busier, it

makes sense to strengthen our global offering.’

ISDN manufacturer Herm-stedt and internet service provider Eloyaty are

among Lewis’ clients looking to expand their international PR.

Dutch national Yvonne Pettenkofer has been appointed to head the

Maastrict office. Appointments are yet to be made at the other offices.

It is expected up to 50 new posts will be created, most of which will be

filled by existing Lewis staff. The head of each office will report to

Hitel.

Lewis reported fee income of almost pounds 2 million in 1999, an

increase of 50 percent on the previous year.
