PUBLIC SECTOR: Hudson to expand PR at St Helens Council

St Helens Council’s chief executive Carol Hudson is to hire her first head of public affairs. Hudson has created the new role as part of a wider upgrade of PR at the council which until now has consisted of a two-strong press team headed by Chris Cahill. Hudson will ask the new head to devise and develop PR strategy to promote the council as a service provider and an employer as well as co-ordinating Best Value consultation. ’We are starting from the top to build a new communications function and it is going to be led by this role,’ a spokeswoman said.
