George Weiss, self-proclaimed celebrity spin doctor and comrade in
arms of the late comedian Peter Cook, wants to hire a PR agency to help
kick-start his latest client’s campaign for London mayor.
Weiss is representing the exotically named pharmaceutical firm employee
Lisa Lovebucket in her bid to become the capital’s head honcho. However,
he may struggle to pay agency fees, since he has until mid-February to
settle an outstanding debt with the Big Issue for the ad used to launch
Lisa’s campaign. So far only one punter has taken up the ad’s five pound
offer of life membership of The Party, the vehicle for Lovebucket’s
Lovebucket has past experience of standing for public office, having
fought Michael Portillo in Kensington and Chelsea last year, and
Labour’s Diane Abbott in Hackney in 1997. Her official
’smokesperson,’(sic) meanwhile, has experience of publicity, having
promoted a previous election bid by smoking a spliff by the statue of
Churchill in Parliament Square.
Weiss and Lovebucket want to turn London into the ’first 21st century
metropolis’ by introducing electronic voting for daily referenda.
Hmm, wonder how often the legalisation of cannabis would feature in
their daily referendum agenda?
