Almost half a million people are known to have macular disease, and it is particularly prevalent among the over-65s. MDS has hired the agency to help draw public attention to macular disease and macular degeneration as the main cause of blindness.
MDS head of external relations Cathy Yelf said: 'We are expanding our profile and Forster has experience in communicating complex, sensitive issues to an audience that is bombarded by health messages.
'This will be key in helping us make the most of the opportunities ahead.'
Foster will deliver media relations and strategic partnerships to inform audiences and stakeholders about macular disease, how to spot it, and what to do if someone has it.
