Public Sector: The Public Sector Week

Universities Week 2011 has appointed Kindred for a campaign that will feature a week of themed days looking at the impact of higher education on the UK's society and economy.

LGcomms is launching a £99 conference programme to help councils deliver cost-effective public sector comms. The 2011 LGcomms Academy in Nottingham is set to be hosted over three days with each day tailored to meet the challenges facing leading public sector communicators. The National Association of Head Teachers has appointed Heather Forse as the first dedicated media officer in its 114-year history. Forse previously worked at the Press Association as head of content for the London press service. More recently she was freelancing.

Portsmouth City Council's appeal for more foster carers is being projected on to the city's Tri-Sail gateway structure. The 43-metre high structure, known as the 'Sails of the South', is carrying the slogan 'Portsmouth children need foster carers'.

Glasgow 2014, the organiser of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, is encouraging people to wear trainers on Commonwealth Day on 14 March. The 'Sport Your Trainers' campaign is being launched to support the games.
