Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

The public administration select committee has expressed renewed interest in the issue of lobbying and the so-called 'revolving door' between Whitehall and business. As PRWeek went to press, the committee of MPs was due to question Lord Lang, chair of the advisory committee on business appointments, in a one-off session.

Luther Pendragon has recruited Conservative Party head of broadcast and lifestyle press Zoe Thorogood as an associate director. Before joining Conservative HQ in 2009, Thorogood was a news editor at GMTV.

Fleishman-Hillard has appointed Labour Party adviser Steve Race as an account manager in its public affairs and corporate comms team. He moves after four years as an adviser to ex-culture secretary Ben Bradshaw.

The Airport Operators Association has hired independent consultant and former CIPR chair Lionel Zetter to act as a retained public affairs consultant, working with newly appointed CEO Darren Caplan.

The Wine and Spirit Trade Association has recruited Euro RSCG Apex Communications consultant Carlo Gibbs as public affairs executive. He replaces Sarah Davis, who is joining Luther Pendragon.
