In a shameless attempt to milk the coverage generated by Action
2000’s worthy-if-slightly-dull campaign to counter the millennium
computer bug, travel specialist PR agency Bugsgang and Associates is
pushing its own odd ’bug’ promotion - this time asking ’Are you PR
compliant?’.
MD Mike Bugsgang accepts that the idea has a short shelf-life, but says:
’It was just too good an opportunity to miss.’
But while Bugsgang’s Craig Brownsell, the man in charge of the push,
admits that the company’s campaign is, well, shameless self-promotion,
he is adamant that it differs in certain crucial ways from the Action
2000 drive.
’It is markedly similar, but it is a new design and the bug is
different,’ he says, firmly.
The promotion went down well last week at the World Travel Market fair
at Earl’s Court. ’The bug is a teaser,’ he says. ’It has been well
received.’ One German visitor even carried off the material to show
colleagues at home how these things can be done. Or maybe he just liked
the design.
