Student24-7.com has launched as a hip internet destination
targeting the UK’s 3.5 million students. It lists Jim Kerr of rock band
Simple Minds and Jim McAvoy, former chief executive of Crystal Palace
FC, among its backers.
Jo Foley, former managing editor of The Mirror and editor of the
Observer magazine, is acting as editor-in-chief for the site in a
consultant capacity.
Roy Delaney has been recruited fresh from college to edit the site. Sian
Thomas, former co-founder of the Daisy and Tom chain of shops, is chief
executive, with Sara Pearson, managing director of SPA Way, a
non-executive director.
The web site will include an on-line magazine, 24-7, which will offer
features, interviews and competitions.
’The editorial team has a close relationship with Student Unions and
student radio and newspapers,’ said Pearson, adding that the site would
actively welcome approaches from PR companies trying to reach the
student population.
