The former director of corporate affairs for the Alliance and
Leicester (A&L), John Caine, MBE, has been appointed as a board director
at rebranded GCI Financial.
The high-profile appointment of Caine coincides with the rebranding of
GCI Focus as GCI Financial (GCIF), and further European expansion.
’The company is aggressively expanding to become a global financial
brand and the appointment of John Caine and the expertise he will bring
is part of that strategy,’ said GCIF’s managing director Alex
The group already has offices in key global markets and is seeking to
launch wholly-owned operations in Spain and Belgium, added Mackey.
Caine’s appointment coincides with the arrival of Roger Leboff from
Grandfield who joins GCIF as a director and head of converging
technology division. He held a similar position at Grandfield.
The rebranding is part of GCI Group’s plan to roll out GCI Financial as
its global financial brand. Caine will be responsible for professional
and financial services, and public affairs, reporting to the board.
Caine, who takes up his role at the start of June, said he thought his
experience at A&L had prepared him for consultancy life.
’The major lesson I learnt at A&L was to be frank, open and honest with
the media, rather than confuse or try to manipulate it,’ he said.
