The job? To handle media relations around two giant pandas being gifted by China. You might say it was pandamonium. If you were a tabloid sub-editor, that is.

2. Synergy persuaded Olympians Louis Smith and Tom Daley to brave the cold in Greenwich on 4 January to launch the BMW London 2012 Performance Team - an initiative to support 25 British athletes as they prepare for the Games. As it was so close to Christmas, Daley even treated onlookers to his famous 'invisible crucifixion' routine.

3. Peppermint PR swapped telephones for tutus as part of its new volunteering scheme. Staff spent a day working for The Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Appeal and the Morris Feinmann Home in Didsbury, as part of its Project Peppermint programme to help local causes.
