Technology: AQA founder sets up consumer tech shop

The founder of the Any Question Answered mobile text message service is to launch a new consumer technology PR agency, Dynamo.

Entrepreneur Paul Cockerton has teamed up with PR consultant Peter Bowles, who recently worked at 3 Monkeys, heading Microsoft's social media activity for the Windows Phone launch.

Dynamo launches this week with a high-profile first client, Wand Company, which manufactures digital wands that double up as remote controls for iPods, TVs and lights.

The Wand Company's founders gained media attention in 2010 when they became the first contestants on BBC's Dragons' Den to leave with a £900,000 investment.

This is the first time the firm has used external PR or marketing. The agency plans to boost sales and attract more high-street retailers to stock the product in the run-up to Spring Fair International on 6 February.

The Wand Company plans to launch more gadgets later in 2011 and Dynamo will handle the comms around these.

Wand inventor Chris Barnardo said: 'We have an exciting year lined up with new products on the way and look forward to Dynamo leveraging the success we've had.'

Dynamo hopes to make technology products and services accessible to people by concentrating on the lifestyle press.

Using PR, social media and digital tools, it plans to talk directly to consumers as well as the media.

Cockerton is also the founder of smart phone manufacturer Symbian.
