Unum, which offers income protection insurance for both employers and employees, has charged Blue Rubicon with handling a comms campaign to help grow the UK market for the product.
Unum's services are tailored towards individuals who are unable to work due to long-term illness or injury.
The comms campaign aims to highlight a 'widespread misconception' among workers that the state will continue to support them in the event of disability - an issue the firm believes will become more important as the Government pushes through its welfare reform programme.
Chris Norton, deputy MD of Blue Rubicon, said: 'Not enough employers understand the role income protection can play in protecting employees when they are sick - nor the value that protection has as an employee benefit.'
The agency will look to position Unum at the forefront of the industry as a thoughtand market-leader and demonstrate the business and social benefits of employers offering staff income protection.
Blue Rubicon will be partnered by ad agencies Albion and Zenith Media.
