APCO acquires Eloqui PR to grow corporate work

APCO has acquired ten-strong corporate shop Eloqui Public Relations as it looks to move further away from its public affairs roots.

London-based Eloqui was set up in 2003 by former Weber Shandwick global strategy director Chris Genasi, former corporate director Joanne Milroy and Shandwick Europe chairman Richard Sermon. The Eloqui brand will cease to exist after the agency's employees move into APCO's London office in Covent Garden this month.

Edward Walsh, MD of APCO's London office, said: 'We're deepening our bench of senior practitioners to meet increasing client demand for corporate reputation services.'

Walsh said Eloqui had grown into a £1m turnover business but refused to reveal how much his agency had paid for the eight-year-old outfit.

Eloqui CEO Chris Genasi said: 'APCO shares our passion for communication with its integrated, research-based capabilities in public affairs, strategic and online comms and opens up exciting opportunities on the global stage.'

APCO Worldwide is headquartered in Washington DC. The UK office was established in 1995 and clients include Microsoft, Danone, Western Union, eBay, SABMiller and the British Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers.

APCO's London office hosts three global practices: global services to governments under Darren Murphy, global FMCG under Stephanie Lvovich and global corporate social responsibility under Rachel Thompson.
