Edwards Lifesciences has appointed Tonic Life Communications to handle pan-European and UK comms for its heart valve and haemodynamic monitoring portfolio of products. Tonic won following a four-way pitch.

Sovereign Health Care, provider of cash plan products designed for the healthcare needs of businesses and individuals, has brought in Golley Slater North. The agency is charged with bolstering the firm's national profile.

The Red Consultancy has made two new hires to its specialist health team, Red Health. Nicole Tripney joins from Huntsworth Health as account director and will be working on pain, smoking, cessation, vaccines and respiratory. Account manager Jo Tubbs joins from MS&L and will be supporting pain, urology and wound care.

Umpf PR has launched a social media experiment for online health insurance provider Health365.com. The world's first 'Ouch Map' allows anyone who has an 'ouch' moment to tweet the part of the body that has been hurt, together with a pain rating and the hashtag #ouch365. The injury is logged on an interactive human skeleton at health365.com/ouchmap.
