Equals Campaign calls on PR to promote events around International Women's Day

A coalition of charities led by Annie Lennox is calling on entertainment PR agencies and freelancers to help organise and promote events on the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day in March.

The newly formed Equals Campaign has brought tog-ether charities such as Oxfam and Amnesty to provide pro bono support organising flash mob dance events as part of a week-long programme of activities around the day. Also on board are the Fawcett Soc-iety, Women’s Aid, The White Ribbon Alliance and Women for Women International.


Equals Campaign spokeswoman Helen Ashley said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for agencies to lend their support to a high profile coalition of charities working on this exciting global campaign.


‘We are particularly interested in hearing from agencies that have experience of organising these type of events and who have excellent contacts in the dance, music and entertainment industries.’

The 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, which celebrates the strength and achievements of women,
takes place on 8 March.


The Equals Campaign is focused on engaging 15- to 30-year-olds, with the aim of building a culture of solidarity between the sexes and generations, and across borders.  

Agencies will be required to organise and promote flash mob dance events at schools, universities, shopping centres, sports clubs and arts centres throughout the country, as well as at a major event taking place at London’s Millennium Bridge.
