2. It appears that the Shoreditch-baiting TV comedy Nathan Barley was a Nostrodamus-esque vision of the future. Lida Hujic's book The First to Know, set to be launched in Shoreditch on 26 January, promises to show 'how key lifestyle changes are spurred on by hipsters who are attuned to their ideals'. The blurb says 'by the time you've finished, the hipsters have moved on' - possibly up their own backsides?

3. Adam Vincenzini of Paratus Communications resolved to give up reading newspapers for a year to see what life is like using only digital sources. He reports he is 'less knowledgeable about current affairs' and 'has to buy more toilet paper'. One of those is made up ...
