BORDER LINES: HONG KONG - Ogilvy resigns Dell account

Incumbent agency Ogilvy PR has resigned from the Dell Computers corporate PR account after only six months, because of a client conflict with Dell’s arch rival Gateway. According to an Ogilvy source, Gateway offered Ogilvy ’more aggressive regional ambitions’. As a result, Dell has awarded the account to Benchmark Communications, after a four-way pitch including Fleishman-Hillard, Hill and Knowlton and Newell PR. Although the account is reportedly small in fee terms, it has strategic importance because of the high profile of Hong Kong media.
