NICOSIA: Shandwick has terminated its relationship with its Gulf

region partner, International Public Relations, as part of its worldwide

restructuring process.

In its place, Cyprus-based Action Public Relations has been appointed as

Shandwick’s sole affiliate in the Middle East and North Africa, with

effect from the beginning of October. It will provide Shandwick with

access to ten new markets in the Middle East and North Africa.

It is the final element of Shandwick’s ’hub strategy’ to establish

affiliates in growth regions. Others are based in Vienna, dealing with

central Europe, and Slovenia, for the former Yugoslavian states.

Lutz Meyer, managing director of Shandwick Europe, said: ’This was the

last step in our restructuring. All agencies whose contracts were

terminated were offered affiliation to Golin/Harris - our sister agency

in the Inter Public Group network. But I don’t know what IPR has

decided.’

However, IPR CEO Mohammed Habis claimed his agency terminated the

affiliation, based on IPR’s focus on developing its own core clients.
