Anna McDermott has been appointed to head the communications and
public affairs department at the International Planned Parenthood
Federation (IPPF). She covers international and internal communications
and steps into a post which has been vacant for most of the year. She
will head a team of seven reporting to the director general of the
federation. She will shortly be recruiting a media officer and an
intranet editor. McDermott has worked in the voluntary, public and
private sectors including PR work for the Royal Marsden Hospital.
The federation is the largest voluntary organisation in sexual and
reproductive rights, health and family planning. It works in 140
countries worldwide, with regional offices in Brussels, Kuala Lumpur,
New York, Nairobi and Tunisia.
