PUBLIC SECTOR: Lambeth Council calls in the headhunters

Lambeth Council, unsuccessful so far in convincing a heavyweight candidate to head its PR, has hired executive headhunter AT Kearney to try and to fill the role. Lambeth created the role earlier this year, but, despite several near misses, has so far failed to lure the right person to the job - which is acknowleged to be one of the toughest in local government communications. AT Kearney faces an uphill task, not just with the image problem faced by the London borough as a potential employer, but from the competition it has from five other London councils - Brent, Barnet, Lewisham, Hammersmith and Westminster - which are on the hunt to fill similar positions.
