Focus-Do It All embarks on extensive PR review

Focus-Do It All, the UK’s third largest DIY chain, is reviewing its

consumer and corporate PR accounts in a bid to raise its profile among

shoppers and corporate decision-makers.

This comes after a year-long rebranding exercise following the takeover

of ailing DIY chain Do It All by northern DIY chain Focus.

Focus-Do It All has used Cheltenham-based Target Consultancy and its

previous incarnation, Target PR, for its consumer and corporate PR for

the past six years.

Despite Focus being privately-owned, its new PR brief involves a degree

of City awareness-building alongside more traditional consumer and

corporate work. The company is aiming to expand, both organically and

through acquisition.

Focus-Do It All’s consumer PR manager, Anthea Fosti, and corporate

communications head, Heather Love, to whom any agency will report, may

appoint a single agency, or several to work together. A four-strong

shortlist is being drawn up, which will automatically include

Target.

Agencies under consideration include: Burson-Marsteller, Communique,

Harrison Cowley, Leedex GTPR, Shandwick, Key Communications, Hogarth,

Grandfield and McCann Weber.

Love said: ’We’re going to be growing and want to have an agency with

more of a national presence and a financial element. There are lots of

ideas in the pot for the next three to four years and, looking ahead,

we’d rather not have to look at agencies again.’
