An internet first for public affairs

Politicsdirect.com is set to become the UK’s first public affairs

agency to offer live, on-line consultations.

The agency is launching its on-line product in three parts. In addition

to a routine information database with political profiles from the UK,

Europe and the US and a monitoring service with access to Government

press releases, the agency is establishing a live, on-line consultancy

service.

The site - going live next Monday - includes an affiliation programme

for independent agencies around the world wishing to share clients

across borders. It also includes retail sales options on things like

political books from Amazon.co.uk, or Government publications through

the Crown Copyright Office.

The agency was founded six months ago by former Tory campaigner David

Beamer and ex-Labour students chief John Arnold, both of whom were staff

members at The Communication Group’s political division until last

summer.

The agency has provided straight public affairs advice through Arnold

for six months, with the revenue generated then invested in Beamer’s

on-line product.

They admit more cash is needed to finance investment, but Beamer and

Arnold insist they have no plans yet to go public. ’We are best able to

pioneer services as an independent,’ Beamer said.
