PUBLIC SECTOR: Deputy comms chief sought for Reading

Reading Borough Council’s communications chief Carl Welham has begun the hunt for a new second-in-command after losing former media affairs manager Caroline Parsons to Cambridge-based agency Myriad. The position involves managing the day-to-day activity of the council’s two-strong media affairs team and executing proactive and reactive communications strategies. The move comes at a time when Reading is vying with a handful of other prospective towns to be granted city status and has adopted the new model of cabinet-style local government.
