Doctors, hospitals and chemists use the Red Cross sign as a sign of first aid. All are using the logo illegally. Under the Geneva Convention, it is the internationally recognised sign of protection. Because the logo is being abused, its value is affected.
PR people are vital for spreading this key message and in insisting the Red Cross is not used incorrectly in print.
The question is whether the logo will have any meaning in the future, as President Bush was advised that the US does not have to abide by the Geneva Convention. Now is that a PR problem or not?
