BORDER LINES: BRUSSELS: EC set for agency green light

The European Commission is understood to be ready to give the go-ahead to Countrywide Porter Novelli and Ogilvy PR for a contract they won in April to promote the EC’s efforts to combat unemployment. The mass resignation of commissioners this spring has put much of the commission’s business on hold. However, as a new set of commissioners is expected to be appointed in September, it is understood the commission will give the green light to the agencies in October and November. The two agencies were appointed to promote the Employment and Social Fund, which provides training in areas of Europe where there is high unemployment.
