Internet service provider PSINet has selected hi-tech agency VP to

handle its PR.

PSINet provides internet access for company web sites including Benetton

and easyEverything, the internet cafe chain launched by easyJet.

VP won a competitive pitch for the year-long account and signed the

contract two weeks ago. It has been briefed to raise awareness of PSINet

as what it claims is the world’s leading commercial ISP in the trade,

business and financial media and among key opinion-formers such as

members of digital industry trade bodies and the Government taskforce on

e-commerce.

The agency will support this week’s launch of PSINet’s pounds 30 million

Docklands-based web hosting centre, from where the web sites are

managed.

The account will be led by VP managing director Julia Vockrodt, who

reports to PSINet marketing director Tristan Wilkinson. Vockrodt said:

’The web sites which use PSINet are commercial sites which want fast

access with no downtime and 24-hour-a-day security.’

PSINet is a US company listed on NASDAQ and has subsidiary firms in

seven European countries as well as operations in Hong Kong, Japan and

Canada.

It has a market capitalisation of about pounds 20 million in the UK.
