What is it good for?
In the heart of Belfast, James Street South is the lunch and dinner spot of choice for business people, party animals and those up from the countryside for the day. Posh but informal, the restaurant serves top quality and edgy dishes and the front of house staff are friendly and instinctive.
Signature dishes
The menu changes weekly and you can email for the latest dishes. Go for seared local scallops with smoked haddock brandade and chorizo, Lisarra duck or the fabulous beef.
Who's the boss?
It is owned by husband and wife duo, Niall and Joanne McKenna. Niall is joined in the kitchen by head chef Stephen Toman.
Tips please
Don't skip dessert - Niall's desert of poached rhubarb with strawberry jelly, yellow man and lavender ice cream was chosen as this year's Great British Menu winner.
What's the damage?
Excellent value lunch menu: two courses for £14.50 or three courses for £16.50. The wine is reasonable too.
