DIARY: Saturday’s best winning ticket wasn’t the Lottery

A rival for Kevin Keegan as the happiest man in Charleroi last Saturday night was Bite Communications account manager Ruben Lawrence.

A rival for Kevin Keegan as the happiest man in Charleroi last

Saturday night was Bite Communications account manager Ruben

Lawrence.

Football-mad Lawrence was the lucky winner of the Bite office draw to

win two tickets to England’s Euro 2000 game against Germany. But one

man’s celebrations are another’s commiserations. The tickets were

originally won by Bite account director Nick Morris in an on-line

competition by SportsMAD.com.

Unfortunately for Morris his wife, who gave birth to a baby boy 10 weeks

ago, had to go into hospital - so a ’gutted’ Morris scrapped his plans

to travel to the match and donated his tickets to an office draw. The

winner was Lawrence and the icing on the cake was the one-nil victory to

England.Luckily he didn’t get too carried away after the result about

England’s chances against Romania.

But, Lawrence says optimistically: ’I’m keeping my fingers crossed for

the World Cup qualifier against Germany in October.
