Communications secretary to the Queen, Simon Lewis, has been
awarded the Stephen Tallent’s Medal at this year’s Institute of Public
Relations Excellence Awards.
Lewis received the award from IPR president Alison Clarke for
’achievements and contributions to the development of PR practice’. The
ceremony was held on 19 June at the Hilton in London.
Other awards went to the Metropolitan Police communications team, which
was recognised for outstanding achievement by an in-house team in the
public service, charity and not-for-profit sectors and the Northern
Ireland Electricity communications department, for outstanding
achievement by an in-house team in the commercial sector. Both awards
were presented for the first time this year.
The Red Consultancy repeated its triumph of the PR Week awards by
walking away with the first ever IPR award for best PR consultancy.
Fishburn Hedges was the only double winner, taking the City and finance
category, in conjunction with CWB for ’Technology Start-Up to Industry
Leader’; as well as the public and community affairs award, with Pearl
Assurance for ’Money in the Real World’.
