It seems that the humble egg has become the definitive marketing
symbol of the new millennium.
Nando’s chicken restaurant chain has given the egg star billing in its
current advertising campaign, and the Prudential has used our ovoid
friend as the inspiration for its new savings products.
Now Nexus Choat PR has won the International Egg Marketing Award for its
work with client the British Egg Industry Council.
The campaign, recognised at this year’s prestigious conference of the
International Egg Industry Commission, successfully communicated the
improved safety of Lion Quality eggs.
The spinners at Nexus Choat even managed to draw the campaign to the
attention of former health minister and egg industry nemesis Edwina
Currie.
And, of course, today’s egg marketers have some rather prestigious
forebears.
It was, allegedly, celebrated feminist author Fay Weldon who came up
with the slogan ’go to work on an egg’.
The team at Nexus Choat tell me they do every day. Perhaps that was the
secret of their success?
