Fresh from bringing in Margot Williams as the new marketing and PR
head of the Sheffield Galleries and Museums Trust, chief executive
Gordon Rintoul has given the nod for further expansion. Williams is now
pushing ahead with the formation of the first full PR team for the trust
since it came into being last year, with the appointment of its first PR
officer. The new role was created after a review of marketing and
communications, which was previously handled by one person. The press
officer will report to Williams and work alongside local agency Paradigm
PR, retained on a short contract recently to support the museum’s PR
function.
First comms manager for Argyll and Bute Argyll and Bute Council in
Scotland has hired Lynda Syed as its first communications manager. Syed
will join at the beginning of December from the regional assembly of
Yorkshire and Humberside, where she is external affairs and policy
manager. Syed’s appointment comes as a result of a communications audit
by Ian Coldwell, director of Edinburgh-based agency PS Communications,
who recommended changes in the structure and strategy of the council’s
communications. In the new structure, head of corporate policy Alisdair
Boviard becomes responsible for communications. The role was previously
overseen by a corporate services manager.
