Freud Communications has established a division to bid for a chunk
of the rapidly growing e-business market.
According to Freud’s head of corporate communications, Oliver Wheeler,
the aim of the group will be to launch and position ’best-of-breed’
internet startups.
’We will be taking a proactive communications strategy on these
businesses. Our focus will be on content, we will treat the internet
like other media such as television, and our background will give us our
competitive advantage,’ he said.
At present the ’e-team’ is working for eight new businesses, including
four which launch in the next two weeks. Web Marketing sells banners on
internet pages, Iforce is a logistics company involved in on-line
buying, Kitbag.com is an on-line sports retailer and Media Circus
Interactive is a new-media design agency.
To date, three staff have been appointed to the team. It also includes
existing Freud consumer and corporate directors who report directly to
Wheeler. Future staff will be appointed as the team wins more
business.
Already launched by Freud is Toyzone.co.uk, a UK start-up aiming to
compete against established internet toy retailers such as etoys and
Rumpustoys.com, which offers games, competitions and cartoons.
The launch received media coverage on the front page of business
sections within Sunday broadsheets such as the Sunday Times and
Observer.
