Flack: (Saving) on expenses - The Hospital Club, London, WC2

Reviewer Louise Doherty, co-founder and head of digital, Rabbit PR

- What is it good for?

The Hospital Club is a safe bet for a client-friendly dinner and drinks. The service is impeccable and the food is served very quickly, meaning you can concentrate on the important media gossip of the day. But beware, the tables are close together - you never know who might be listening.

Signature dishes

British dishes done well, such as the beerbattered fish and Jenga-sized chips. Don't be fooled by the token exotic-sounding items abstractly thrown in. The most interesting dishes are always on the specials menu.

- Who's the boss?

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, through his investment company Vulcan Inc, and David Stewart of Eurythmics fame.

- Tips please?

The prosecco is just as good as the champagne, and considerably cheaper. If the restaurant is full, you can still order at least half the menu on any of the member club's four floors.

- What's the damage?

Dinner for two with wine is about £60.
