Nayani has worked with the Glazer family for almost six years, first as a director for their financial PR firm Smithfield and then moving to work directly for the family in May 2007. During this time he led communications around the family’s controversial takeover of the club in May 2005.
He also had responsibility for Manchester United’s financial and commercial comms as part of his role.
Nayani has now established Highgate PR, a boutique consultancy specialising in PR around the business of sport.
Manchester United’s director of communications, Phil Townsend, confirmed Nayani’s departure and said most of his previous responsibilities would be assumed by the club’s in-house comms team.
Prior to joining Smithfield, Nayani was a business TV journalist with CNBC Europe, Financial Times TV and Reuters. During his time in financial PR he represented international blue-chips such as Macquarie, Henkel and Akzo Nobel.
