HONG KONG: One of Hong Kong’s leading corporate affairs and IR
agencies, Forrest International, has yielded to Interpublic-owned Golin/
Harris after being courted by WPP and BSMG, among others, for the past
The deal marks GH’s third buy in Asia, having acquired its first two
Asian offices in Tokyo and Taipei earlier this year from fellow
Interpublic subsidiary Shandwick.
Forrest’s offices in Hong Kong and Singapore will be rebranded
Golin/Harris Forrest, with agency founder and MD Anne Forrest taking the
helm as managing director Asia.
Chicago-based GH, ranked number 15 in the world, has practice strengths
in IR and corporate affairs which match that of Forrest, but some
industry observers noted differences in the composition of their client
GH works with multinational firms like McDonald’s, Johnson and Johnson
and Nintendo, while Forrest’s client base is comprised of listed local
companies, such as Cathay Pacific and Jardine Matheson.
Synergies include Jardine Matheson, which works with Ludgate in London,
now a Golin/Harris operation since the two merged in June.
Rich Jernstedt, CEO of GH, said: ’The internationalisation of our brand
will be marked with strategic acquisitions in critical markets. We have
more plans for Asia-Pacific.’
