Public Sector: Amaze PR scoops Salford University brief

The University of Salford has asked a leading Manchester agency to help it launch a cutting-edge digital learning, teaching and research space.

Amaze PR picked up the brief to promote the department that will be based at Manchester's MediacityUK, a building aimed at the creative and digital industries in Salford Quays.

Sandra McDowell, managing partner, Amaze PR, said: 'We're working up the details of a number of innovative digital events aimed at attracting new undergraduates and postgraduate students. We want to make the university the number one choice for anyone considering a career in the creative industries.'

University of Salford director of comms Chris Larkin said that the new department presented 'a massive opportunity for the university to enhance its reputation as leader in the field of digital media and comms'.

The project will see Amaze PR working with the university's in-house comms team to highlight the opening next autumn.

The new building will house about 1,500 students and will offer courses in audio technology, animation and mobile and internet TV. The first element of the project will see Amaze announce the handover of the keys to the premises, which is set to take place next month.
