Henry’s House has won a four-way pitch to handle PR for Channel 4’s
The Big Breakfast.
The appointment comes as the programme enters a new phase, with the
imminent departure of its two hosts. Liza Tarbuck is set to leave at the
end of August and Johnny Vaughan’s contract is up at the end of the
year. Work on the account begins immediately.
PR was previously handled by Giant, which worked on the show for nearly
three years. However, the agency resigned the account, wanting to work
on other shows, and will continue working on Channel 4 projects.
Henry’s House founder Julian Henry will head the account, reporting to
Julie Pickford, Channel 4 senior publicity manager, entertainment. He
will also liaise with Mary Durkan and Ed Forsdick, directors of Planet
24, which makes The Big Breakfast.
Henry, along with two other staff - director Charlotte Hickson and
account director Rachel Babington - will work on unit publicity for the
They plan to provide stories and photography for the national press
within an hour of the show’s broadcast.
They will also handle on- and off-air promotions, and PR for the
presenters, including a new weather presenter sourced through the
programme’s ’Find me a weather presenter’ competition.
Henry said: ’At a time when TV brands are fragmenting, The Big Breakfast
is an increasingly powerful brand for 16- to 24-year-olds.’
