HONG KONG: Edelman Public Relations has bought Hong Kong marketing
firm Cash Communications and Marketing Services and is in acquisition
talks with several more interactive companies across mainland China.
Edelman president and CEO Richard Edelman said the move was the agency’s
attempt to build a ’global interactive capability’ across Asia, Europe
and Latin America. A budget of more than pounds 2 million has been set
aside for acquisitions.
Under the Cash deal, managing director Hester Chan-Waters will be made
vice-president of Edelman’s Hong Kong office, reporting to Edelman
managing director John Mullins.
Cash’s clients, including South African Airways, iCare and a range of
internet clients, will move over to Edelman at the end of April.
Hong Kong will form the regional hub of the planned interactive business
with a European hub planned for London.
