Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

Bell Pottinger Public Affairs has appointed Business Secretary Vince Cable's former parliamentary researcher as a consultant.

Paul Scaping worked in Cable's office from May 2009 to August 2010. He takes up the new role next week.

The British Beer and Pub Association has kicked off a competitive pitch process for its public affairs account. The incumbent is Euro RSCG Apex Communications.

Project Associates has hired Jane Atkinson, former media adviser to the late Princess Diana, as an associate.

The CIPR Government Affairs Group is holding its annual lunch on 10 December in the House of Commons. Cabinet Office minister Mark Harper has been invited to address the pre-lunch reception on lobbying reform, while Daily Mail consultant editor Andrew Pierce will make the keynote lunch address.

Public Affairs Cymru has elected Michelle Matheron, senior policy officer at Wales Council for Voluntary Action, as its new chairman. She succeeds Alexandra McMillan. At Public Affairs Cymru's general meeting last month, its members approved the body's first code of conduct.
