Walt Disney Attractions is hunting for a head of PR, following the
departure of Joyce Leaver to join an internet start-up company.
Leaver becomes head of communications next month at 21st Century Travel,
an e-business selling holidays and travel options on-line.
Attractions, the Disney division responsible for Disneyworld in Florida
and Disneyland in California, is now actively looking for a successor to
Leaver. Tom Allan, the company’s vice-president for Europe, Middle East
and Africa, added that he was ’sorry to see Joyce go, but there is a
strong team in place to carry on the good work she was doing’.
Leaver has spent six years at Attractions, reporting to sales and
marketing director Stephen Park. As head of PR, she ran a team of three
publicists covering the two US-based theme parks and Attractions’ latest
venture, themed cruise ships sailing in the Caribbean.
Most of Attractions’ UK PR is handled in-house, with agencies hired on a
project basis. Last year the Red Consultancy launched the cruise ship
Disney Wonder. Attractions is just one division of Walt Disney UK, the
others being stores, films, products and interactive.
