Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

Mandate Communications, Bell Pottinger and Open Road all provided hospitality to government special advisers between May and July 2010, according to the latest records.

The Government published details of special advisers' gifts and hospitality for the first time last week. Mandate (now part of MHP Communications) is listed as having lunch with Vince Cable's adviser and breakfast with Phillip Hammond's adviser. Bell Pottinger and Open Road also enjoyed lunches with special advisers.

Burson-Marsteller's healthcare MD Steve Morgan has left the company. Morgan had been heading up the 'market access' practice, set up in June 2009 when he joined B-M along with six other consultants from his former agency Morgan Allen Moore.

Centrica Energy has hired Suzanne Edmond as media relations manager. She was previously issues and stakeholder adviser at Shell Chemicals' global businesses.

Compassion in World Farming and WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) is stepping up its campaign against industrial mega-dairies by targeting MPs. The charities persuaded 51 MPs to show their support by attending a briefing in Westminster last week.
