PUBLIC SECTOR: Leeds appoints manager for inner city

The Leeds inner city areas of Chapeltown and Harehill, dogged by bad publicity as among the most deprived in the country, have got their own PR manager to show the communities in a positive light. Leeds Urban Initiative, a Leeds City Council-led regeneration project, has brought in ex-Leeds Carnival organiser Susan Pitter to promote the regeneration programme and dispel the negative image of what has become a late-night no-go area for taxis. Pitter will work alongside a cross-community steering group which includes Sinclair Mason PR.
