Royal Air Force Red Arrows PR manager Nikki Wright joined the charity earlier this month and has been charged with raising awareness of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
'My task is to make the charity a household name within five years,' she said. 'I am currently looking at a strategy, which will include linking with lifestyle brands and trying to expand our celebrity support.'
Wright was previously at the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, where she worked as media manager and interim head of PR. Wright has also worked in comms teams at Porsche and Saab Cars Great Britain.
Hearing dogs alert deaf people to specific sounds, offering greater independence and security. To date, the charity has placed more than 1,500 hearing dogs throughout the UK.
