The head of global marketing and communications at troubled on-line
retailer Boo.com, Marina Galanti, is leaving to launch a
Galanti joined Boo.com in July last year from The Body Shop where she
was head of global communications.
Her consultancy, which has the working title MAG.com, will be a
marketing services consultancy, aimed at the dot.com arena. Although it
does not officially launch until July, she already has one client,
Underoneroof.com and is in talks with others.
Underoneroof.com is a one-stop web site for buying and selling homes in
the UK. Galanti is the strategic marketing consultant, and Grandfield is
handling PR for the site, with director Stephen Benzikie heading the
Galanti said there was a possibility that Boo.com would become a client
of the new agency.
However, on 17 May it was reported that Boo.com was on the brink of
collapse, as it sought further funding from investors. Although it
received strong interest as an internet start-up, the site has been
beset with problems, starting with a five-month delay in the launch of
the web site. In January, it cut its workforce by 90.
