BP Amoco, the world’s third-largest integrated oil company and the
second-biggest firm listed on the London stock exchange, has appointed a
new communications manager at its main chemical plant near Hull.
Andrew Essex replaces Linda MacCleod at BPA Chemical’s Saltend plant.
MacCleod has moved to take up a position in the company’s global
business centre in London.
Responsible for a team of four, Essex will report to site manager Derek
MacAlpine and head of Saltend’s human resources, Blake Holt.
Essex will have sole responsibility for the site’s external and internal
Policy is set by BPA Chemicals HQ in London, but PR at each of its sites
around the world is run autonomously, said Essex.
He joins the Saltend team from the company’s London Britannica House
headquarters, where he was PR manager for BP Oil, and UK Social
Investment Manager, for four years.
Essex’s brief also extends to building stronger links between the
Saltend plant and the community to local MPs, local council, community
groups and the general public.
