Mobile communications giant Orange has appointed Cohn and Wolfe on
a UK and international corporate communications brief with estimated
fees of pounds 500,000.
C&W deputy managing director Jonathan Shore will head the account to
promote Orange’s intention to be operational in 50 international markets
by 2005. Shore will report to Denise Lewis, Orange’s head of corporate
communications and sponsorship.
The account was won after a competitive pitch, although Orange refused
to disclose how many agencies were involved.
The work comes off the back of C&W’s recent contract to manage the PR
campaign for Orange’s Formula 1 sponsorship. The appointment of C&W
brings to an end Orange’s three-year consumer PR account with Joe Public
JPR managing director Matthew Wood said the account’s termination was
inevitable and ended amicably.
’We didn’t even pitch as we are a young company without a global
presence. We are naturally sorry to lose the account, but it has no
bearing on our expertise, merely on the lack of a global presence,’ said
